Oh my goodness! It’s been so long!!!

I have been terrible about updating my blog, for a few reasons that I’ll explain later.

For those of you that don’t know – I’m pregnant!! I’m week 16 and feeling pretty good 🙂

Part of the reason I haven’t felt compelled to update was that we had been trying for quite a while and I had been hopeful it would be more immediate, unfortunately that wasn’t the case and we had to try for about 8 months. I had happy things happening in my life but what I wanted to blog about wasn’t exactly public knowledge. But now I’m feeling pretty good and excited and things are going well for me so I can’t complain 🙂

So I had my doc appt today and got to hear the babies heartbeat through the doppler! I’m hoping to attach it to this post so you can hear it! The baby is healthy and in a few weeks we’ll be able to determine the sex! I can’t wait!!! I have no idea what it will be, so it’s been hard to make any gifts for the baby or even think of names. If you listen to the heartbeat you’ll hear the doc trying to find the heartbeat, but you can tell when it’s the babies – it’s louder and more consistent and it’s the last half of the sound recording.

Baby’s Heart Beat

Things otherwise are going pretty well for me – work is busy busy busy but I like that and I’ve been doing some presentations for Baby Sign Language (I’m sooo excited that I can finally implement that into MY child’s life). I’ve been doing things with family and friends almost every weekend! And this weekend I get to look forward to seeing Alyson, Landon and Pat!

Okay, that’s it for tonight! Night all!

It’s been a while

So I know…it’s been a while…I’m sorry – it’s not you, it’s me. Really. Of course I still love you!

Sigh – I have been sooo busy that I haven’t had a chance to breath, let alone update – but I’m taking a few valuable minutes to do that, just for you.

So first things first: If you want to keep up with me, informally of course, follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/librarianAnna
I update that thing all the time, or anytime I go to the bathroom.
Which then updates my Facebook page – so find me there too…and on facebook I take random pictures and put them on there immediately (via phone – I love it!)

Now for the life – recent hurrah’s:
-I got onto CSC!!! Wooohooooo! It’s a two year commitment and I’m looking forward to it!
-Matthew celebrated his birthday and let me tell you – he was SHOCKED by his gift. He had NO idea that I did this, nor did he pick up on any of the lies. I made Matthew a Boudoir Album! I went through Varland Photography to do this and it was AWESOME! As soon as the pictures are online I’ll put a link here. But he really had NO CLUE that I did this and I thought for sure that he had an inkling..nope, nothing, nada. He was just so stunned he couldn’t talk. And he really like the pictures 🙂 I am awesome :-).
-I got to see my sistah!

and now I have to go…I’ll try and update soon.

Quickie update

Just a quick update to tell everyone that we finally finished painting and decorating our bathrooms! Woohooo! We only have one more full bathroom to go and then we’ll be done with those. We’re starting small with the painting business so don’t be too harsh of a critic!!

I’m putting in links to matthew’s blog about the updates b/c he did a great job showing the pictures and such!

Come Get You Some!

So in reference to my title of this post, the saying is from the sign of a business that I pass EVERYDAY on my way to work…and this sign is the BANE of my existance. I hate the fact that it says “Come Get You Some” in reference to money….oh vey! So I had to share my disdain with everyone else.

And Yes, I am Alive and well (for the most part) I just haven’t had much time at home to update my blog, let alone breath. But I promise I’ll make it up to you!

Recent News: Life is good -Work is good. That’s the important stuff. At work I’ve been kicking butt and taken numbers 🙂 really I was just informed that I was going to be nominated for Rookie of the Year in the system…unfortunately my paperwork did not get in on time so I’m not actually in the pool – but that’s okay, It’s still an honor to be (theoretically) nominated 🙂 I’ve been having lots of programs at the library that have been really successful and I really enjoy it out here!

Home life is good too. Matthew and I are really happy 🙂 He’s been playing lots of hockey and invariably getting hurt but he’s happy so I’m (most of the times) happy. He’s been playing really well even though he’s been sick. Work for him has been going well as well so that’s excellent.

However, on the health front I’ve not been doing so well. I’ve been so miserable with sinus infection after sinus infection after sinus infection! I finally had CT Scans done and the outcome is that I have to get better or else I have to have surgery. The medicine plan the ENT has me on seems be working but I am starting to feel sick again, like my throat is raw and I don’t know if its sickness or if it’s the medicine…So we’ll see in January when I check back in with the ENT.

Other interesting things that I have been doing:
I have been Knitting up a STORM and crochetting some too 🙂
Let me see if I can get some pictures uploaded….
Ahhh poop! Matthew has those pictures that I wanted to upload! MATTHEW!!! lol
So I’ll tell you about them and then upload them 🙂

For Turkey-christmas with the Coleman side of the family I was making some holiday gifts. For Katie I gave her my first pair of socks I ever knitted and two sets of fingerless gloves. For Mom I gave her a pink and white beach bag and have to make her another pair of fingerless gloves. For Mandy she got a hat and scarf and I have to make her a pair of fingerless gloves. For all my coworkers I made them their own fingerless gloves. Can you guess the theme here???? I figured out how to make them and I LOVE TO MAKE THEM! I also taught myself how to make some cute beaded stitch markers 🙂

Now I still have a christmas to go…but I don’t think I’ll be making anything for them this year….I might have to try and spread the gifts out over the year so that I can give them handmade gifts at birthdays!

So with (all) that being said I should probably get back to my lunch and work. Hope everyone is well and that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Hanukkah! 🙂

OH and I’ll try and upload a picture of Vlad, my gingerbread Chippendale – he’s sooo cute :-)!!

Just a Quick update!

I haven’t updated recently and I had this super exciting thing happen to me so I thought I should update with that!

A local crochet designer and I have started a Crochet & Chat program at the library – Woohooo! And Tuesday was our first meeting.  I was totally stoked and excited and the shindig got off to a good start with 5 newbs!  Then when I was helping a co-worker out one my ASL patrons came up and asked me about the program and that she wanted to learn to crochet a blanket!  Me with my limited sign language brought her over and taught her how to Single Crochet! Woohoo!  And now I even have some ideas on how the next classes can be better and how other libraries can incorporate a positive influence for hearing impaired patrons!  I’m super excited but I need to find a ASL user who knows more signs for crochet specific terminology or else I’ll make up my own.  I’m thinking I’ll just fingerspell the abbreviations for things like SC for single crochet, and DC for double crochet.  We’ll see, I’m going to do some research and find out which would work.

And speaking of sign language I have to say how silly I am.  So I drive 45 mins to work and 45 mins home (on a good day – usually with traffic it can be 50 – 60 mins or more) and today I put on my ipod and listened to a podcast and then after that I put on some music and, lol, started signing to the music.  Which I’m sure isn’t the safest thing but it was fun and helping me to remember my signs (I really need to take an ASL class! I’m sooo rusty!)

Oh and this past weekend I was away in Atlanta for a conference called MACNA which is a fishie keeping convention 🙂 Really it’s Marine Aquarium Conference of North America but it’s about fishies and keeping them so Fishie keeping convention.  It was really fun and informative and I had a good time and learned about a lot as well as Finishing two crochet projects! They are the same project, one’s a different size then the other but I’ll put the picture of the one that I had to steal a baby to take the picture.

-)

Cool hat + stolen baby 🙂

Other things in my life – the usual – starting to think about Christmas gifts and I’d really like to make people things but I don’t think that’s really practical but we’ll see.  I also have other things on my mind but those are going to be secret for a bit longer 😉 muahahahahah I love leaving people in suspense!

OH and I almost forgot – I read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer!  I totally would not have read the book because they are about vampires but Katie gave me the first book for my b-day and I read it and LOVED it!  I then devoured the remaining 3 tomes in the few following days, literally I read 4 books in 1 week, 2 of the books were read in a day.  I’m insane, yes I know.  Thank goodness I started to read them AFTER Breaking Dawn came out or else I may have hunted down SM and made her tell me the book!  I loved reading the series and HIGHLY recommend them for everyone else!

Okay that’s all, ttyl!

Birthday fun!

So it’s been a while since I’ve updated and I thought I’d let you all know about my 25th birthday (wow I’m old).  One of the first gifts I got was from my MIL – I got an air purifier! I’m hoping that will help me sleepbetter at night.  Then my next gift was from Katie and it was a book…one I DIDN’T want to read “Twilight”by Stephenie Meyer.  I don’t like Vampire books and the like so I told her I wouldn’t read it, but she decided that as my birthday gift I had to read it.  And I did and I really enjoyed it, so much so thatI went out and got the second book of the series and read it almost instantly (I had to sleep for a few hours, but had it completed before returning to work) Now I’m waiting to borrow book 3 and 4 from a co-worker so I can finish this tale.

The best gifts I’ve recieved so far come from Matthew (and I’m still waiting in the dark for my third gift from him).  The first gift he gave me was a Crochet book…but not just any crochet book – he took the time to browse throughbooks and see which he thought would best suit my tastes.  That was the most thoughtful and touching thing.  Then the next gift (and all my crafty friends are way jealous) he signed me up for Webs (www.yarn.com) Skein of the Month club!!  During the 3rd week of the month I’ll receive a skein of yarn and a pattern! Woooot!  So when I know what the third gift is I’ll have to let you know if it tops this one or not!

I also recieved gifts from other family and friend members and am also waiting to see what my parents are sending me 🙂  I’m excited!

So that’s all – I’m 25 now and pretty freakin happy with my life, my family, my friends, and most importantly my husband.  I’ll try and update sooner rather then later!

Ciao, Anna

My SupPresent

So as some of you know, Matthew had a “suppresent” for me.  The clues were: It was outside the entire day, while Matthew was at work; and it could not be in the house b/c it would “contaminate” the house.

So here’s what it was:

Some beautiful Mum’s 🙂 Now if anyone has any clue where to plan them let me know (Sun good/bad, shade good/bad, do I have to remove them in the winter – can I put them in an indoor planter if they do…etc…)

Alright- that’s all – I’ll try and post more pictures as my birthday approaches!

Oh and here’s a great picture of me! AT work, working HARD!

So an interesting thing happened to me today…

This evening Matthew and I decided we needed to fill our need for some skyline so we went at an unusual hour (9 o’clock) and we’re sitting down chatting and waiting on our food. Out of nowhere comes this piece of paper on our table with an American Flag. I glance down at it and see something about “I am deaf” etc… Yep he’s a deaf peddler. Now since I know sign language I waved at him to get his attention and asked “Are you deaf” to which he replied “Yes” I said back to him “I know sign language and also know that these cards are bad” at which point he took the card off the table and walked over to another table – with his back to me. Around that same time a worker came over to me and I told her that what he was doing is not right. Many deaf cultures do not appreciate the peddlers b/c it makes people act as though they are less capable of normalcy, whereas deaf people are more then capable to work regular jobs. This man was basically saying – I can’t get a real job, have pity on me…I’m deaf. But that’s not right! I know MANY deaf people who work full time jobs, and they would be just as upset at this man for mis-informing people that deaf people need pity. I believe firmly that deaf people are just like us, they just live life differently – much the same way as people who use computers – there is always more then one way to do something on a computer – copy & paste, start a program, surf the net. Just b/c it’s done differently doesn’t mean it’s (they) are less fortunate.

So anyways back to my story – I was talking to the waitress and and the man was directly in front of me (I was against the wall) and the entire time he had his back to me. So I’m telling this woman that he is peddling and that it is degrading to many deaf people and explained why it is viewed as that. The man walks out of the building and around it and comes back in and starts yelling in sign language to me. Now my sign language isn’t the greatest but I think he was saying – “this is how I make my living -something something scam – who are you” kind of thing. But that’s the thing – I NEVER said to him that it was a scam – I only said it when his back was turned and that kind of clued me in to the idea that he is probably hearing and trying to make a quick buck. It’s really unfortunate b/c there is a large deaf community in both cinci and dayton and many people don’t know this b/c they rarely interact with deaf people and when they do it’s with a peddler.

Anyways that was my interesting story – nobody yell at me for having skyline – I limited myself to 1 hotdog!

Oh and I think everyone should read this blog I found – it’ll do a better job of explaining why peddling is negative and from a deaf persons perspective. Selling me Short

Night all!
