Come Get You Some!

So in reference to my title of this post, the saying is from the sign of a business that I pass EVERYDAY on my way to work…and this sign is the BANE of my existance. I hate the fact that it says “Come Get You Some” in reference to money….oh vey! So I had to share my disdain with everyone else.

And Yes, I am Alive and well (for the most part) I just haven’t had much time at home to update my blog, let alone breath. But I promise I’ll make it up to you!

Recent News: Life is good -Work is good. That’s the important stuff. At work I’ve been kicking butt and taken numbers 🙂 really I was just informed that I was going to be nominated for Rookie of the Year in the system…unfortunately my paperwork did not get in on time so I’m not actually in the pool – but that’s okay, It’s still an honor to be (theoretically) nominated 🙂 I’ve been having lots of programs at the library that have been really successful and I really enjoy it out here!

Home life is good too. Matthew and I are really happy 🙂 He’s been playing lots of hockey and invariably getting hurt but he’s happy so I’m (most of the times) happy. He’s been playing really well even though he’s been sick. Work for him has been going well as well so that’s excellent.

However, on the health front I’ve not been doing so well. I’ve been so miserable with sinus infection after sinus infection after sinus infection! I finally had CT Scans done and the outcome is that I have to get better or else I have to have surgery. The medicine plan the ENT has me on seems be working but I am starting to feel sick again, like my throat is raw and I don’t know if its sickness or if it’s the medicine…So we’ll see in January when I check back in with the ENT.

Other interesting things that I have been doing:
I have been Knitting up a STORM and crochetting some too 🙂
Let me see if I can get some pictures uploaded….
Ahhh poop! Matthew has those pictures that I wanted to upload! MATTHEW!!! lol
So I’ll tell you about them and then upload them 🙂

For Turkey-christmas with the Coleman side of the family I was making some holiday gifts. For Katie I gave her my first pair of socks I ever knitted and two sets of fingerless gloves. For Mom I gave her a pink and white beach bag and have to make her another pair of fingerless gloves. For Mandy she got a hat and scarf and I have to make her a pair of fingerless gloves. For all my coworkers I made them their own fingerless gloves. Can you guess the theme here???? I figured out how to make them and I LOVE TO MAKE THEM! I also taught myself how to make some cute beaded stitch markers 🙂

Now I still have a christmas to go…but I don’t think I’ll be making anything for them this year….I might have to try and spread the gifts out over the year so that I can give them handmade gifts at birthdays!

So with (all) that being said I should probably get back to my lunch and work. Hope everyone is well and that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Hanukkah! 🙂

OH and I’ll try and upload a picture of Vlad, my gingerbread Chippendale – he’s sooo cute :-)!!

Just a Quick update!

I haven’t updated recently and I had this super exciting thing happen to me so I thought I should update with that!

A local crochet designer and I have started a Crochet & Chat program at the library – Woohooo! And Tuesday was our first meeting.  I was totally stoked and excited and the shindig got off to a good start with 5 newbs!  Then when I was helping a co-worker out one my ASL patrons came up and asked me about the program and that she wanted to learn to crochet a blanket!  Me with my limited sign language brought her over and taught her how to Single Crochet! Woohoo!  And now I even have some ideas on how the next classes can be better and how other libraries can incorporate a positive influence for hearing impaired patrons!  I’m super excited but I need to find a ASL user who knows more signs for crochet specific terminology or else I’ll make up my own.  I’m thinking I’ll just fingerspell the abbreviations for things like SC for single crochet, and DC for double crochet.  We’ll see, I’m going to do some research and find out which would work.

And speaking of sign language I have to say how silly I am.  So I drive 45 mins to work and 45 mins home (on a good day – usually with traffic it can be 50 – 60 mins or more) and today I put on my ipod and listened to a podcast and then after that I put on some music and, lol, started signing to the music.  Which I’m sure isn’t the safest thing but it was fun and helping me to remember my signs (I really need to take an ASL class! I’m sooo rusty!)

Oh and this past weekend I was away in Atlanta for a conference called MACNA which is a fishie keeping convention 🙂 Really it’s Marine Aquarium Conference of North America but it’s about fishies and keeping them so Fishie keeping convention.  It was really fun and informative and I had a good time and learned about a lot as well as Finishing two crochet projects! They are the same project, one’s a different size then the other but I’ll put the picture of the one that I had to steal a baby to take the picture.

-)

Cool hat + stolen baby 🙂

Other things in my life – the usual – starting to think about Christmas gifts and I’d really like to make people things but I don’t think that’s really practical but we’ll see.  I also have other things on my mind but those are going to be secret for a bit longer 😉 muahahahahah I love leaving people in suspense!

OH and I almost forgot – I read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer!  I totally would not have read the book because they are about vampires but Katie gave me the first book for my b-day and I read it and LOVED it!  I then devoured the remaining 3 tomes in the few following days, literally I read 4 books in 1 week, 2 of the books were read in a day.  I’m insane, yes I know.  Thank goodness I started to read them AFTER Breaking Dawn came out or else I may have hunted down SM and made her tell me the book!  I loved reading the series and HIGHLY recommend them for everyone else!

Okay that’s all, ttyl!

Whoa! 2008!

So it’s 2008 and I have started the year of with a bang!

1) I put in my two weeks notice for the daycare – I still don’t have another job but it’s time – I’m ready to move on and really focus on things that need my focus. I have some bitterness towards this leaving for many reasons but I’m trying to be as nice as possible. If you want details give me a call.

2) Matthew and I found a great bargain at Sofa Express – they are going bankrupt and we found a great bedroom set really cheap – so we now have a real bedroom set, two nightstands, a queen bed with head and foot boards, dresser with mirror, and a chest of drawers. We even got nice lamps for the bedside and the dresser. I’ll put in pictures and you can check them out yourself!

3) I think this year I’m going to try and sell my crocheted stuff.  So I’m taking orders.  I’m also going to make at least one child’s sized sweaters.

4) I guess another resolution is to try and keep the laundry washed and folded without having piles of it.  More over I want to keep the bedroom looking nice and pretty.  Hell I might even make the bed EVERYDAY! eh, once a week will be enough.

Alright that’s it for now, I need to go switch the laundry and clean up and get to the stores soon.  I’ll post again this week (yell at me if I don’t!)

Awesome!

Soo in the yarncraft podcast I had heard about something called Ravelry.com and it sounded really neat, but when I went to the page they were/are only in beta so I had to sign up for the “please invite me” list. Welllll when I got on vacation I was surprised to find out that I HAD been invited!!! I’m sooo excited and I’ve been playing with that just as much as I’ve been spending time with family, okay maybe more time online :-P. This site is like the myspace/facebook of crocheter’s and knitters! It’s really awesome! I can put my works in progress (WIP’s), things I’ve finished, my stash of yarn, etc….they also have groups and forums so I can talk to people who know what I’m dealing/talking about! It’s almost as good as having a group of needle-ists!

Also I’m going to try and put in a video of Nikki playing guitar hero – we finally got it for the wii and totally love it – I even got Kate to get it so we can play long distance when she moves to Mass.

Other things in my life – we went to the Georgia aquarium and had a great time! We even did the behind the scenes and it was super cool. I’ve also decided to do a scrapbook of our aquarium adventures! I think that would be fun ~ we’ve been to sooooo many!

Matthew and I are doing well… I think we definitely needed a vacation, but now I don’t want to go back to work – just let me sleep, crochet and eat all day and I’d be as happy as a lark.

Alright that’s it for now, I’ll ttyl!

Peace, Anna
