Redecoration!!!

I have just redecorated the house….we got new bookshelves, which, amazingly, hold all of our books – for now.  I can only imagine in a few weeks we’ll be busting at the seams. But for now we’re good.  We just need to get some wall anchors and we’re golden.  Since we’ve replaced our existing bookcases they have been refurbished into DVD holders, a booze holder, and a picture display.  I have to say I’m pretty impressed with myself.  I even placed the Bird of Paradise from the wedding over the stove and moved the red vases above the dishes.  Yep yep, I’m pretty darn smart!  With that being said I need to take new picsof the loft room/ and the living room/dining room.  Since I’ll be out of town for a few days I’m hoping to take pics before the party and uploaded soon.  Alright, that’s about it – Peace all!

Rollercoaster Week

Well This is my birthday week – generally I’m excited about my birthday, you know happy and stuff, but this week has just gotten off to a bad beginning. I think it has cursed my birthday and I’m now worried that someone else will die on my birthday next year :-( Let me explain:

1 yr ago a day or two before my birthday Matthew’s Grandma passed away – albeit, expectantly – we were fortunate enough to have a chance to say good bye to her a few weeks before that.

Unfortunately, yesterday we got word that Matthew’s Uncle Bill passed away, by way of drowning. I don’t understand what happened or why it happened but this very young man of 57, watching his children grow up (one just graduated from school…) should not have faced this terrible fate. Yes, I think I am mad – no one deserves to lose someone that way, and such a good person should not have been taken from this earth. It is truly a tragedy. I am trying to stay somewhat positive, esp for Matthew. I have to remind myself that his death is a perfect example of living life to the fullest and NEVER taking a day for granted. Also, treasure the present, appreciate the future and relish the past. Yes these sayings are somewhat contrite but I feel like this is all that we are left with – our memories and living to our fullest. Life should never be taken for granted. I am just as guilty as the next person for getting upset at the small things but I find myself now thinking “Is getting upset about this such a big deal? Wouldn’t my time that I am spending being angry be better spent if I was happy?” I’m not ignoring things that would make me mad but rather I am being direct and assertive – “This hurt my feelings, please stop/apologize” instead of letting it eat me up inside.

Anyways I’m done verbally vomitting….

Thank you Bill for the gift to see how valuable life really is – Rest in Peace.

Also – as a birthday gift I am accepting boxes of kleenex, k? Thx.

Smupdate…er…Update!

Been pretty busy these past few days, so forgive me for my delinquency.

Well I’ve been working a ton, applying a bunch, and HURRAY HURRAY I have a job interview on the 28th.  However I’ve also applied for another position and I realllly want that one, so we’ll see what happens.

My birthday is steadily approaching, only 4 more days (This friday, the 24th, my Golden Birthday!)  As I like it, I have been receiving my presents well in advance of the actual day :-) That way I don’t have pleasure overload ;-) .  So far the awesome presents I have recieved are: Matthew – new Desk, docking station, and my brick :-)    Helen – Some awesome new ecco shoes!!!  They are sooo sweeeet! I need them for the job interview next week so I’m breaking them in.  I’ll take a pic later this week and upload it – yes they are that sweet.

Speaking of birthdays, I am going to be having a dinner at Iron Chef Hibachi Grill Friday night – I think only 6 people can go (not including Matthew and myself) so first come first serve.  However, we’ll be having games and what not at the house afterwards and all can come for that.  But if you want to wait till the official party, Sept 1st, which is also a Graduation and labor day party, you may – I won’t cry…much :-P Email me for info – k?thx.

On to other things that are awesome – we are finally getting a water softener!  YIPPEEEEE!!! Hard water NO MORE! and a reverse osmosis machine for our drinking water – yeah you could pee in it and have pristine clean drinking water! I’m very excited about that! I’ll be selling bottles of water for a quarter!  lol, j/k – but seriously, we don’t have them YET, we’re still waiting for the company who installs them to call us.  If we don’t hear anything tomorrow I am calling and requiring they install it for free – yes you just watch me pull that off!

And onto other things -  I’ve been reading a few books (who knew with free time what was possible!) one of the books that I am reading is “Happier” by Tal Ben-Shahar – I am enjoying it immensely!  But it’s a slow process b/c it requires you to do a little homework, which I have to admit I enjoy.   The other book I’m reading is “The Deadline” by Chris Crutcher  – a YA book that is really good!

Otherwise that has been my life – I’ve been hanging out with a co-worker and that’s been fun and interesting – Matthew and I are trying to make friends up by us since it seems like no one wants to travel to visit us.  Regardless, we’ve had a pretty good time :-) .  Alright, that’s it for now – Have a good one!

A Lego Brick?!

Yes, that’s right folks – I am the proud new owner of a red lego brick….Now you may say, but Anna a lego brick is nothing, you can get one for a quarter – oh contrare (sp?) my friend!

THIS is the lego brick, I speaketh of:

This is normal looking brick is really a 250 GB USB 2.0 Harddrive – yes a harddrive one could play with :-) Isn’t it pretty!

So why do I have this? Well 1 because it was my birthday gift from Matthew – Thanks Chieu! and 2 I really need a lot of space for all my pictures and music – already my hard-drive on my new reformatted laptop was reaching 45% full….without what I had on before. Sooo that’s why – Isn’t it beautiful????

Also, does anyone have a basement they want to finish? I know the right people – Owen Corning – Seriously it’s some goooood stuff -I’d have my basement done in it within a heartbeat but I want a deck first. So if anyone is interested please let me know – I’ll get you the best sales persons in the world – seriously a great man with integrity, now how many door to door salespeople can you say that of??

Okay that’s all, I’m off to bed – night all!

PostSecret

Gotta love post secret – I was lucky enough to meet the compiler/editor at ALA and he signed his newest book for me – The stuff one finds is funny, scary, happy, sad and many times disturbing, but as a person who utilized mental health services often, I know how important admitting ones fears are – so I see these post cards as a type of therapy, and it only costs a stamp. Enjoy the video:

Beautifying my Blog

I spent the evening beautifying my blog….doesn’t it look purty??  I also re-organized my tags (“categories”) and made a few pages (all about me and favorite links).  Tell me what  you like and don’t like about this layout…Personally I think it’s easier to read and much more user-friendly.

Also, wish me luck, I think I’m going to go out on a limb and try something that hasn’t been done before – I’ll let you know more after I talk with my mentor and feel out a few more question-ables, but if I go through with it, it may mean revolutionizing the library field as we know it!  (Yes, I AM known for doing that!)

Okay that’s all for now, I need my beauty sleep, seriously!

Cinnamon Toothpaste

So Matthew’s job just gave him a bunch of toothbrushes and toothpaste b/c they had to get rid of some old product.  Well one of the toothpaste flavors is cinnamon, which I happen to love (the cinnamon flavor) but to my disappointment, last night as I brushed my teeth, I realized that this cinnamon is spicy.

Now I realize that everything with the cinnamon flavor label is spicy or hot, but SERIOUSLY is cinnamon spicy??  NO!  I want normal cinnamon flavored stuff!  Not the Big Red Cinnamon stuff – the real natural cinnamon flavored stuff.  Come on toothpaste ppl, get your act together already!

With that being said, I would now like some cinnamon ice cream from graeters….but they dont’ make it till the holiday season :-( 4 more months to go :-(

That is all for now, I hope to take some pictures and upload them today! TTYL

Away from Keyboard…

Sorry I’ve been away from the keyboard, been kinda busy with upgrading my computer and reformatting it…I seriously had 3% of my 80 Gig hard drive left…..which isn’t a lot. So the computer was wiped out, and I’ve been rearranging the rooms so that I can take more pictures this week.

Landon II Floorplan (click me to see a picture!)

I did, however, scan an image of the floorplan of our home.  The first thing you see is the upper level.  The part that is circled is our layout, so put that over the drawing below it.  We do not have the optional half round window, but we do have the optional wood rails…very fancy!

On the first floor there are a lot of marks so bear with me…. We do have the optional breakfast bay, the optional luxury master bath with optional second sink, the optional powder room, the optional gas burning fireplace, the 2′ bump to great room/dining room, and the full front porch.  We do not have the optional service door….all the other marks were me playing house and sketching where things could go.

Oh and I should mention that our house is flipped, so hold the image up to a mirror and you’ll really see how our house looks :-P

Enjoy! I hope to get more pictures up this week, so yell at me if I don’t!
